POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Sports Director and Sports Coordinator, the Sports Assistant will assist in set up, tear down and supervision of all youth sports at any of our 3 branches. Our youth sports consist of planning, preparing, and delivering the program throughout the season. Promote and incorporate the YMCA core values and mission into all aspects of the job and in the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Fulfill the YMCA's mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and
body for all.
2. Supervise practices and games for Youth Soccer, Basketball, Baseball and Volleyball
3. Give basic sports knowledge and ensure a positive experience for participants.
4. Build effective, authentic relationships with children and parents.
5. Ensure the safety of all by following proper precautions and regulations.
6. Encourage the involvement of all participants.
7. Assist the Sports Director and Coordinator in assuring our equipment and fields meet quality standards.
8. Perform any additional tasks assigned by supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
- CPR, First Aid and AED certification required or willingness to acquire during onboarding period.
- Prior coaching and/or sports experience preferred.
Visual abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral and depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.

YOUTH SPORTS SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Be present at all practices and games Parent supervision and behavior management

Field preparation (Painting, sweeping, etc.) Set Up and Take Down of Equipment when needed
