Position Summary:

Unarmed Security Guard to provide safety and security for the contract.

Duties:

  • Operate metal detectors
  • Search bags
  • Report concerns and violations to administration and the SRO
  • Use wands to locate contraband
  • Patrol grounds and interior facilities

Requirements:

Must Meet the State of South Carolina requirements for an unarmed private security officer:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass extensive SLED background check
  • Ability to pass a drug screening
  • Pass the following post-offer/pre-employment testing in accordance with assigned site requirements/regulations

Other Requirements:

  • Work extended hours
  • Work alone while unarmed
  • Work and perform under stress
  • Work in adverse weather
  • Provide armed escorts
  • Stop, question, and detain individuals with suspicious behavior
  • Respond to emergencies with unplanned strenuous physical activity
  • Climb stairs
  • Sit or stand during your entire shift
  • Be able to bend, squat, push, pull and lift 25 pounds for your entire shift
  • Use site issued handgun with dominant and non-dominant hand
  • Use handcuffs
  • Ability to function in emergencies and unusual environments.
  • Must be willing to wear all required PPE
  • Must adhere to all safety protocols

The examinee shall demonstrate stability and capacity for the following:

  • Mental alertness and emotional stability
  • Acuity of senses; ability of expression to allow rapid, accurate communication by spoken, written, audible, visible, or tactile signals.
  • Physique, stamina, motor power, range of motion and dexterity to allow safe execution of duties.
  • Use of medications that while the individual is working causes incapacitate, alter mental status, judgment or decrease physical or mental response times (e.g., anxiety relief via sedatives, narcotic pain medications, etc.).
  • Individuals with medical conditions which may impact the ability to perform the essential functions of the job shall provide medical evidence that the condition is controlled with proper medication and/or treatment and/or reasonable accommodations. The contract manager may require the candidate to obtain a letter of clearance from his/her personal physician attesting that the candidate can perform the essential elements of the job.
