The Peace Center is a major nonprofit performing arts center serving a growing and sophisticated audience in Greenville, South Carolina.Β  It is the dominant performing arts center in the State and region.Β  Built on a six-acre campus with an aesthetic mix of new architecture and historic buildings, the campus is at the hub of Greenville’s nationally recognized downtown.

The Peace Center venues include the 2,115-seat Peace Concert Hall, the 400-seat Gunter Theatre, the 1,400-capacity outdoor Peace Pavilion, Genevieve’s Lounge, and the Huguenot Mill which includes two event spaces: the Ramsaur Studio and the Huguenot Loft. Opening in 2026 will be two additional music venues:Β the 250-seat Mockingbird (a listening room), and the 1,150 capacity Coach Factory (a flat floor club).

Position Summary

The Building Services Supervisor contributes to an excellent patron and employee experience by ensuring the overall cleanliness and appearance of Peace Center facilities through various janitorial tasks and duties. This position requires constant observance and use of Peace Center safety policies and procedures in the execution of job duties and supervises other housekeeping staff.

Position Responsibilities

  • Helps supervise housekeeping staff during regular hours and assists in training personnel in proper methods and procedures.
  • Serves as the Building Services authority in absence of the Building Services Manager.
  • Performs daily housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and appearance of Peace Center campus, including but not limited to Concert Hall, Gunter Theater, Administrative offices, Huguenot Loft Space, Mill Lobby, restrooms, conference rooms, and break area.
  • Performs all duties of a housekeeping staff member when necessary.
  • Helps maintain inventory of equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Oversees use of storage areas
  • May perform maintenance jobs not requiring a skilled tradesperson.
  • Communicates regularly with the Building Services Manager on building repairs and conditions.
  • Utilizes cleaning materials such as broom, vacuums, squeegees, mops, blowers, chemicals, spray bottles, moving furniture
  • Operates power equipment such as vacuums (back-pack and upright), power sweepers, carpet and upholstery cleaners, scrubbers and buffers, pressure washers, trash compactor, dolly and hand truck as needed to perform job duties.
  • Demonstrate superior customer service skills to enhance the experience of donors, patrons, and all members of the public.
  • Observe all company safety and security policies to ensure the safety of self, patrons, and coworkers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Working knowledge of housekeeping and janitorial procedures and ability to operate the related equipment.
  • Knowledge of janitorial products and application procedures to ensure safety.
  • Ability to work with members of the public, volunteers, outside production crews and casts.
  • Self-motivated and able to stay busy without constant supervision.
  • Consistent and accurate work.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role preferred.
