CNC Technician

Materials Sciences LLC (MSC) is looking to fill a position for a CNC Technician (Programmer/Operator). The technician will be responsible for taking provided computer solid model geometry and generating a plan for machining operations to generate the desired part. The technician will need to be proficient at reviewing CAD data and program manager's communicated inputs to select and procure raw materials and tooling needed to perform successful operations. These selections of material and tooling will then be utilized in the CAM generation of G-Code then utilized on CNC equipment.

The technician will also be responsible for the handling and loading of designated material into CNC machining equipment, monitoring of the machining operation, and the unloading of materials from CNC equipment. CNC equipment will include milling, turning, waterjet, and additional specialized computer-controlled equipment. Each operator must also perform routine maintenance on the equipment they are operating and also assist with equipment troubleshooting and major maintenance.

• Ability to lift 45 pounds
• Knowledge of 3 axis milling operations
• Knowledge of 5 axis milling operations
• Knowledge of turning operations
• Knowledge of CNC functional operation
• Familiarity with waterjet operations
• Experience with routine equipment maintenance
• Familiarity with diagnosing problems with typical equipment errors encountered at run time
• Basic knowledge of SolidWorks with 2+ years of experience
• Knowledge of MasterCAM or comparable CAM programming package
• Familiarity with 5-axis CNC programming methods and related CAM software
• Experience performing tool path simulation and interpretation of results
• Knowledge of CNC functional operation
• Experience diagnosing G-Code errors on common CNC equipment
• Experience with routine equipment maintenance
