The hiring salary range for this position is $29.00-$35.33 per hour and is non-negotiable.Β  An offer will be made based the candidate's qualifications and relative experience.Β 

JOB SUMMARY

Perform maintenance and repairs of complex electrical, diesel, mechanical and hydraulic vehicle and equipment with limited or no supervision. The ability to operate heavy equipment is preferred. Equipment will include but is not limited to tractors, mowers, vehicles, boom/scissor lifts, ground service equipment, tugs, belt loaders, GPU, de-icing trucks, snow removal equipment, weed eaters, blowers and fire trucks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist fleet mechanic with troubleshooting, repair and complete preventative maintenance on Ground Service Equipment (both motorized and non-motorized)
  • Work will include diagnostic testing and repair of gas engines, transmissions, suspension and brake systems.
  • Respond to emergency service calls for vehicles and equipment.
  • Keep maintenance facility and its equipment always clean and serviceable, report all deficiencies to management.
  • Review prepares and complete work orders in a timely manner.
  • Complete all maintenance/repair documentation consistent with airport authority, municipal, state and federal requirements.
  • Maintain fuel pumps and fuel management system.
  • Conduct routine and annual inspections and performs preventive maintenance on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspect equipment for proper fluid levels, adds fluid as necessary, and replaces filters.
  • Inspect, diagnose, disassemble, remove, clean, and replace defective parts/systems, and adjust to specified performance standards for assigned fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform programming and installation of radios. Perform vehicle upfits as needed.
  • Grease, lubricate, and change oil in light vehicles and equipment.
  • Check and replace tires, fan belts, mower blades, water hoses, and batteries.
  • Perform minor welding and fabrication repairs.
  • Works closely with Grounds Maintenance supervisor on projects and workorders.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, which may include days, afternoons, graveyards, weekends, and holidays.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of automotive and heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of the operating principles and mechanical repair of engines.
  • Diagnosing defects in automotive and heavy equipment.
  • Reading drawings and electrical diagrams.
  • Operating a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Repairing vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Operating a welding torch and welder.
  • Skill in computer diagnostics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written.
  • Knowledge of lock out-tag out procedures for safeguarding employees from hazards.
  • Shows creativity and alternative thinking to develop new ideas and solutions for work related problems.
  • Ability to effectively work independently or within a team environment.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to pass TSA/Security Background check.
  • Current Driver License.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in automotive technology or closely related field
  • 3 years of experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance
  • ASE Certified Technician.
  • Aviation environment or industrial facility experience.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery including various trucks, heavy equipment, hand, and power tools, etc. Must have the ability to exert more than fifty pounds of force occasionally and up to twenty pounds frequently. Must lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to one hundred pounds. Physical demands are more than sedentary work and require the ability to walk, stand for periods, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, push, pull and reach. Frequent work or travel in or near roadways, parking areas, aircraft ramp areas, requires constant vigilance of vehicular, aircraft and equipment traffic.
