The General Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment within school buildings and surrounding grounds. This position performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, and custodial tasks to ensure that facilities are sanitary, functional, and presentable for students, staff, and visitors. Custodians will perform duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing and may assist with room setups, and reports maintenance needs or safety concerns to supervisory staff. Custodians are expected to follow established procedures, exercise good judgment, and maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while representing the school.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoors.Β The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals which may include petroleum products, degreasers, and sprays.Β Β The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.Β Β The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Frequent interruptions and immediate attention to unexpected situations are expected.
