About Whitten Regional Center:Β Whitten Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Clinton, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.


Job Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a RegisteredΒ Nurse, this position provides daily nursing care, training, activities, andΒ treatment to the people who live at the Regional Centers inΒ accordance withΒ all licensing andΒ certification requirements, the South Carolina Nursing Practice Act, and South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs Policies and Procedures.


  1. AdministersΒ routine oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications as well as treatments in accordance with nursing protocol, facility policies, and procedures.

  1. Monitors health conditions of theΒ individuals andΒ reports findings to medical provider and appropriateΒ staff. AssistsΒ physician/practitioner with examinations and treatments as needed.

  1. Maintains a safe and sanitary living and working environment.

  1. EnsuresΒ accountability and protection from harm for all individualsΒ throughΒ appropriate and thorough documentation.

  1. ReviewsΒ MonthlyΒ Medication Administration Record (MAR)and 90-day recertification orders, completes health careΒ records, AIMS/DISCUS, swallowing and SAOM Evaluations. AssistsΒ with weights and heights as ordered and indicated by policy and procedures. ProperlyΒ documents as needed.

  1. Performs and participates in activities as otherwise assigned by the supervisor to include, but not limitedΒ to,Β participation in on-call rotation procedure.


The salaryΒ rangeΒ for this positionΒ is $52,000 to $57,396 andΒ will be based on verified work-related nursing experience as indicated onΒ the candidate’sΒ application.Β This position is eligible for up to$3.75/hourΒ shiftΒ differential forΒ applicable shifts!Β Sign-on bonus for eligible candidates will be distributed after one, six, and twelve months of successful continuous Full-Time employment.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Successful completion of a registered nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from a registered nursing education program per Section 40-33-32 of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of practical nursing procedures. Knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health, and safety practices. Knowledge of the human anatomy. Ability to maintain attention to detail. Ability to make accurate technical and physical observations of individuals. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain accurate medical documentation. Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and laws. Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, andΒ educational backgrounds. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the healthcare team. Ability to lift and moveΒ individuals.Β General knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities.Β AbilityΒ to work in a group home like setting or ICF. Physical ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile.
