Job Responsibilities

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center, 1050 Ribaut Rd., Beaufort, SC 29902.

TheΒ Office of Mental Health’sΒ mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses. We provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

As the Mental Health Clinician / Mental Health Professional I, you will utilize clinical skills in providing screening, assessment, crisis and therapeutic interventions and resources to adults, children, and families with the goal of increasing immediate access for patients to connect with services. Coordinate with CECMHC service providers to assure continuity of services, provision of services as outlined on POC, and to promote engagement in services.Β 

Responsibilities for the Mental Health Clinician / Mental Health Professional I:
  • Coordinate with the treatment team to ensure service delivery and engagement with patients as well as potential patients.Β 
  • Coordination and management of H2H schedule including coordination with Clinic Directors and other program coordinators/supervisors to assure designation of service providers on the mobile service unit.Β 
  • Drive/operate the mobile mental health unit as needed for services and community events.Β 
  • Coordinate with service providers to identify patients in need of specific mental health resources/interventions and to identify patients in need of care coordination services to address any barriers to treatment.
  • Coordinate with key community stakeholders to provide education regarding mental health services and resources.Β 
  • Participate and assist in coordinating community outreach events for the Center.Β 
  • Coordinate data collection, analysis, and reporting of patients served in relation to H2H services. Β 
  • Comply with the South Carolina Office of Mental Health Compliance Plan and all legal responsibilities and requirements in performing their job duties.Β 
  • Perform all other related job duties as required.Β 
This position MAY be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the applicable position.Β Submit an up-to-date, detailed resume along with a copy of your transcripts.

Coastal Empire CMHC is an approved site of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), which offers student loan repayment of up to $50,000.00 to employees of NHSC- approved sites. You must be a US Citizen, you must be licensed to practice independently in the state where you are hired and you must have unpaid government or commercial school loans. There is a two year service commitment required as well. Β Confirmation of qualifying for this loan repayment program is the responsibility of every applicant - we cannot guarantee your qualification.Β 

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.Β 
  • Two (2) years of experience. Must be licensed, or eligible for licensure. Β 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. Β  Β Β 

Additional Comments

Post hire, employee must:

  • Be able to complete Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) certification
