OVERVIEW

The Mountain Bike Instructor will lead individual and group instruction and act as an ambassador for the ASC Greenway. Must be passionate about the outdoors and connecting the public to nature through outdoor recreation based programming. Under limited supervision, routine work is performed independently. Β Β 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Teaches and guides youth and adult participants in mountain biking on Greenway Trails and at the Greenway Skills Park
  • Develops and instructs fun, energetic and highly motivational sessions, beginning and ending on time, for all skill levels while maintaining a safe and enjoyable atmosphereΒ 
  • Instructs participants on effective methods; explains proper techniques, provides adequate warm-up, and teaches appropriate methods Β 
  • Assists participants, answers questions and maintains a positive exercise experience for participants
  • Will assist with, or lead, mountain bike components of camps as neededΒ 
  • Keeps supervisor informed of participant and facility needs
  • Ensures safety standards are metΒ 
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSΒ

  • High school diploma, GED, with a fitness/wellness background and ability to instruct others or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.Β 
  • Current PMBI certification (Professional Mountain Biker Instructor)
  • Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training; will train
  • Certification in Wilderness First Aid preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


Regularly walks; uses hands; reaches with hands and arms; climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls; and talks and hears. Occasionally stands and sits. Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust

focus. Ability to operate a mountain bike at intermediate levels in advanced riding terrain in a variety

of riding conditions. Ability to ride and/or walk for 2-3 hours at a time at a fairly high level of cardiovascular

exertion.
