First Aid & Clinical Care Support
- Administer initial triage: Assess walk-in middle school students for minor illnesses, playground injuries, or somatic complaints (e.g., anxiety-related stomach aches).
- Provide basic first aid: Clean wounds, apply ice packs, and dress minor cuts or abrasions.
- Measure and record vitals: Take student temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration as directed by the nurse.
- Assist with health screenings: Coordinate logistics and record findings for school-wide vision, hearing, and dental screenings.
Medication & Special Care Delegation
- Administer prescribed medications: Deliver daily oral or topical medications after receiving state-mandated training and explicit delegation from the school nurse. *Training to be provided by School Nurse
- Log medication compliance: Keep exact, timestamps of every medication dose given, tracking parent authorizations and physician orders.
- Support daily living activities: Assist medically fragile students or students with disabilities with physical transfers, mobility, or personal hygiene needs.
Health Room Administration & Documentation
- Maintain electronic health records: Update the student information system with clinic visit logs, immunization updates, and chronic condition notes.
- Manage parent communications: Call parents or guardians regarding student illnesses, injuries, early dismissals, or pending vaccination records.
- Monitor inventory: Keep the health room stocked with necessary medical supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE), and hygiene stock.
