Occupational Nurse

Job Scope:

Under general supervision responsible for developing, interpreting, and administering employee health services.  Acts as a medical advisor/liaison between employees, management, and medical community.   Acts as a liaison between ESF and the employee due to medical leaves (short-term and long-term) and Worker’s Compensation injuries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides a proactive leadership role in maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring safe behavior in our employees and enforcement of all safety policies.
     
  2. Collaborates with management and other members of the Occupational Health Team, such as Physicians, HS&E Manager, Corporate Business Unit partner, WC Attorney, Long Term and Short-Term medical resources.
     
  3. Evaluates employee medical restrictions for job placement or modified work:
     a.  Pre-placement physicals
     b.  Return to work
     c.  Annual Occupational Screenings
             - Pulmonary Function Test
             - Respiratory Fit Test
             - Hearing Test
             - Forklift annual screening
             - Vision Screening
     
  4. Assists in providing medical assistance pertaining to FMLA, Short- and Long-Term Disability and Workers Compensation.
     
  5. Maintains accurate records such as:
     a.  Health Assessments
     b.  Workers Compensation Files
     c.  Medical Leave of Absence
     d.  Return to work program
     e.  Wellness Programs
           - Health Education
           - Accident Prevention
           - Alcohol / Drug Abuse counseling
           -Smoking Cessation
     f.  Drug/Alcohol Testing Program
     g. Other records as required
     h. Essential Functions listings for the plant operations
     i.  Active member of the HS&E Team
     
  6. Provides in-service training and orientation in health/safety related programs for all employees.
     
  7. Assures training of the site Emergency Response Team and conducts monthly ERT meetings.
     
  8. Meet medical needs for all employees by administering first aid for work related injuries, dispensing medications within protocol, counseling/referral of employees for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses per ESF medical protocols; including EAP.
     
     
  9. Direct and manage Workers Compensation cases.  Contact with physician and hospitals to arrange for further medical treatment for work related injuries, health emergencies, and follow-up care.

 

  1. Lead Emergency Response Team, Site Wellness Plan.
     
     

Education and Experience:

Active license as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina COHN preferred.
 
 Minimum of 3-6 years in industrial with management responsibilities sufficient to be fully competent in managing medical services in an industrial occupational setting.

Understands occupational medicine and health and the factors that can affect goal achievement.  Uses professional knowledge in planning and decision making.

Working conditions:

  • Wear the required PPE/Clean room apparel all times while in the manufacturing area.  Other personal protective equipment is required as departmental policies or job tasks dictate.
