Position: Full-Time Licensed Mental Health Professional

Facility: Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center

Location: Columbia, SC

Hours: 40 hours/week

Pay: Up to $45/hour, depending on experienceΒ

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Β

  • Provide behavioral health screening of detainees referred by facility staff or identified by prescreening (booking or nursing)Β 

  • Provide individual and/or group therapeutic servicesΒ 

  • Assist custody and medical staff in the monitoring of behavioral health for referred detaineesΒ 

  • Coordinate with custody and medical staff in the management and treatment of detainees with behavioral health concernsΒ 

  • Monitor and provide therapeutic support of segregated/isolated detaineesΒ 

  • Support and supplement the activities of county behavioral health services in the stabilization of at-risk detaineesΒ 

  • Coordinate with county behavioral health services for continuity of care and discharge planning via sharing of pertinent patient informationΒ 

  • Complete documentation of assessment and treatment, as well as maintain records for referral tracking and CQIΒ 

  • Facilitate trainingΒ 

  • Any and all other duties as assignedΒ 

Qualifications

  • Degree in a behavioral/social science field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work) from an accredited college or universityΒ 

  • Current licensure with clinical specialty in the state from the appropriate state licensing board.Β 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on trainingΒ 

  • Must be able to practice independently.Β 

  • Coursework and professional experience that indicates knowledge of mental health counseling, group and individual psychotherapy, diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders, psychological assessment techniques, crisis intervention, and mental health consultation.Β 

  • Must obtain and maintain security clearance.Β 

  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle.Β
