TITLE: Rehabilitative Behavioral Health Services Counselors

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Doctorate or Master’s Degree in psychology or social work or other related field.
  2. Licensed by South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners; Licensed by South Carolina Board of Psychology Examiners or Licensed by South Carolina Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Addiction Counselors and Psycho-Educational Specialists
  3. A minimum of three years working in a clinical or school setting with children who have been diagnosed with mental illness, behavioral, or emotional issues, or 30-hour training and certification.
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

REPORTS TO: Β Executive Director of Special Services and RBHS Lead Counselor

JOB PURPOSE: To improve academic achievement by minimizing the number of suspensions and expulsions, reducing discipline referrals, assisting meeting the needs of at-risk student population; to ensure the proper execution of the Individual Plan of Care, identification process and service delivery to all students receiving Rehabilitative Behavioral Health Services by assisting the licensed professional counselor with screenings, evaluations, diagnosis, treatment planning; securing and proofing clinical service notes; and fostering improvements in the delivery of mental health services to children and/or family.

Ensures academic outcomes

assisting the RBHS lead counselor with implementing an individual plan of care (IPOC) for students which accurately depicts the behavioral program and is developed, reviewed, and revised in accordance with Medicaid policies and regulations

Β 

Adopts best practices and procedures

assisting the RBHS lead counselor with coordinating and facilitating training opportunities; monitoring behavior modification and rehabilitative psycho-social services sessions; IPOC implementation; and quality assurance reviews in accordance with Medicaid requirements, South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, and districts policies and procedures.

Maintains professional competence

attending trainings and workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks with other agencies and organization.

Β 

Foster positive relationship

providing families with knowledge and skills necessary to allow them to be an integral and active part of the beneficiary’s (clients) treatment team. Allowing administrators, teachers, support staff, and representatives from other state agencies the opportunity to be members of any decision-making team for their child/student.
