TECHNICAL MAINTENANCE TRAINEE:
SUMMARY: Under regular supervision is responsible for training in and assisting with the mechanical, electric, plumbing, and instrumentation maintenance repair of all equipment related to the Authority’s water and sewer systems. Trains as an apprentice under maintenance specialists on basic skills in all aspects of the technical maintenance division.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. One year experience in general electrical, mechanical, electronics, plumbing and instrumentation or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess ability to communicate, both orally and in writing and requires computer experience in Microsoft Office Products with the ability to use software used by the Authority. Must possess or obtain training in confined space entry, bloodborne pathogen, hazardous material, first aid/CPR, forklift operations, crane operations, and lockout-tagout within two years of hire.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a commercial driver’s license within one year from hire, a Class D Wastewater Collection System license, a Class D Water Distribution license and demonstrate the skills of a Technical Maintenance Specialist I within two years of the date of hire.

Technical Maintenance Specialist I:

Assists in troubleshooting and assessment of maintenance and repairs, the planning and requisition of parts, and the implementation of repair.

Must possess or complete BJWSA sponsored training in confined space entry, bloodborne pathogen, hazardous material, first aide/CPR, forklift operations, crane operations, and lockout-tagout within two years of hire.
