Assists with the design, maintenance, and implementation of CADD workspaces and file storages for hydraulic design, roadway design, geotechnical design, and bridge structural design teams to streamline project setup and data access. Assists with the development of standard operating procedures, technical documentation, border sheets, cell library and plotting control files. Evaluates and implements enhancements to the design application programs.
Provides intermediate technical assistance to the Regional Production Group offices with CADD and engineering software programs, and plotting controls to expedite project design time. Provides training and technical assistance in using roadway design application programs for roadway design and plan preparation.
Assists the implementation of hydraulic design, roadway design, geotechnical design, and structural design programs, computer aided drafting system and engineering printing/scanning systems which involve procurement, testing, program customization and deployment. Assists with the customizations of the hydraulic design, roadway design, geotechnical design, and bridge design programs in accordance with AASHTO and Department specifications and guidelines. Recommends and promotes automation procedures to enhance existing drafting and plotting processes.
Represents Office of Engineering Support in meetings and conferences. Provides oral/written evaluation reports, technical documentation, and presentations to management. Creates customized documentation to assist users in software usage. Attends technical conferences. Provides engineering plotting services to the department. Produces special plots and PowerPoint files for executive presentations.
Assists with the design of special accelerated highway projects. Performs highway engineering tasks including engineering data analysis, DTM modeling, plan preparation and quality control. Performs other related duties as assigned.
A bachelorβs degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and four (4) years of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. May require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal business hours or respond to emergency situations.
