Job Description
Job Duties:
35% - Provides direct on-site supervision of research staff to ensure the appropriate conduct of studies. Supervises and evaluates research staff working on active research studies. Allocates personnel resources to accommodate demand for all studies. Provides strategic input regarding study activities to PI. Develops Standard Operating Procedures, documents the lab processes along with handling the procedures for the freezer and freezer log. Provides training to other staff. Acts as liaison between PI and ancillary services. Mentors research team on research related tasks and trains in federal and local federal regulations and policies. Manage personnel needs, assisting other coordinators with billing, IACUC submissions. Performs random audits of regulatory materials to ensure proper documentation and adherence to study protocols.
35% - Laboratory work. Works in the laboratory to perform echocardiograms, rodent surgery, and evaluation of proteomics data. This work will then be used to write manuscripts and make figures for each manuscript.
30% - Grant Submissions and Administration: Builds the infrastructure needed for growth of studies and other programs including procurement of supplies and equipment as needed. Fulfills all pre award requirements, including provides training, mentorship and guidance to other research staff on the pre and post award process. In collaboration with the PI, develops research plans, utilizing research methodology knowledge, oversees, develops and monitors budget reports, project revenue and expenditures and other post award activities.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology, microbiology, biochemistry or a closely related field and four yearsβ relevant experience in a clinical or research laboratory environment; relevant experience includes minimum of one year of experience supervising or managing a research laboratory.

(Frequent) Ability to push/ Ability to lift 40 lbs. centrifuge rotors from floor level to height of 40 inches, then down 20 inches into centrifuge drum, unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to lift 25 lbs. boxes, from floor level to maximum height of 72 inches, unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to push/pull file boxes from one location to another at floor level. (Frequent) Ability to maneuver heavy equipment on bench tops, 50 lbs. or greater, unassisted. (Frequent) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous) Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors, normally. (Continuous) Ability to hear and recognize various alarms emitting from work area systems. (Continuous) Ability to hear and/or understand conversations.
