Ability Beyond Barriers is seeking compassionate, dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide person-centered support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and head/spinal cord injuries in our residential programs.
As a DSP, you will play a vital role in helping individuals live safely, independently, and meaningfully in their homes and communities.
What Youβll Do
- Provide person-centered supports that promote dignity, independence, and choice
- Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and home management
- Help individuals build life skills and achieve personal goals
- Encourage and support community involvement (recreation, employment, social activities)
- Support health, safety, and wellness, including medication assistance (as certified)
- Provide safe transportation to appointments and activities
- Complete accurate and timely documentation and reports
- Advocate for the rights, dignity, and well-being of those served
What Weβre Looking For

- Ability to support individuals with varying needs using positive, respectful approaches
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (or at least 1 year of related experience)
- Valid driverβs license
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role (lifting, assisting with mobility, etc.)
Important Role Expectations
This position is considered an Essential Employee role, meaning:
- You may be required to report to work during emergencies or inclement weather
- You may be temporarily assigned to different residential locations to ensure continuity of care
